After School Math Club

The Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh Street, is offering students in second through seventh grades an After School Math Club from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Monday nights beginning January 23rd and continuing through June 4th.

After School Storytime

The Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., invites children ages 4-10 for our After School Stories and Crafts program.  The program will be held on Tuesday, January 24th from 3:30-4:30. Join us for some winter fun.  Please call the Youth Services Dept. at 262-636-9245 for more information and to register. You can also register using the link below.  Registration is required.

Battle of the Books Mock Meet

The Youth Services Department of the Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., is hosting two informational meetings for the 2012 Battle of the Books participants. Each meeting, approximately one hour long, will be informal and participants are invited to be part of a mock meet team. While attendance is not mandatory, it could prove helpful to understanding what is involved in a Battle. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 6:30pm in the Youth Services Department of the library. The second, similarly formatted meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 19 2 6:30pm, also in the Youth Services Department. Participants' families and supporters are also invited to attend. Milwaukee Bucks Library Reading Challenge

The Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., is participating in the Milwaukee Bucks Reading Challenge. The Milwaukee Bucks, The Northwestern Mutual Foundation and the Milwaukee County Federated Library System have partnered to execute the "Milwaukee Bucks Library Reading Challenge". The reading challenge is open to all Wisconsin young-adults in the 3rd - 10th grades. The purpose of the reading program is to promote literacy and library usage by youth in Milwaukee and statewide communities ... "The more you read, the more you win!" With each page read, the students score points. When a predetermined number of points are achieved, students become eligible to receive a variety of prizes, including Bucks game tickets and a chance to win a Bucks autographed basketball. The challenge begins today and goes through February 28th.   For more information on the Milwaukee Bucks Reading Challenge, stop in the Children’s Department at the Library.

Music Together Class

The Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh Street, is hosting a Music Together class.  This class will be held on Wednesday, January 25th in the Youth Services Department.  Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood and movement program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and the adults who love them.  It teaches children to learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music or our culture.

PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest

Milwaukee Public Television PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest
All kids from Kindergarten through third grade are invited to participate in this writing contest.  The contest begins January 16, 2012, and the entry deadline in March 5, 2012.  You could be a winner and have  your story published at pbskids.org/read.  Information can be picked up at the Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., or go to www.mptv.org.

Golden Book Collection

The library is seeking donations of Golden Books published in Racine, WI to build on its current collection.  The library has been able to obtain about 400 of the nearly 1000 published in this area.  If you or someone you know has Golden Books to donate, please contact the library at 262.636.9217.
