How much will it cost if I return materials late? (Fines & Fees)
Racine Public Library materials do not have late fines. The late charges for all non-Racine library materials are $.25 per item, per day. Fines will not be charged for Sundays or holiday closings.
The library sends notices when materials are overdue. If you have an email account that you check regularly, you should add your email address to your patron account, since this is the fastest way to receive an overdue notice. Email notifications are an additional courtesy service in conjunction with the date due receipts given at the time of check out.
How Long May I Keep Materials?
The loan periods for the Racine Public Library are listed below. Please note: the library is a member of a 53-library consortium. Some of the items you borrow may come from these other libraries, and they may have different loan periods.
Damaged or Lost Materials
If you damage the barcode or RFID tag on a library item or it is removed from the item, the replacement fee is $1.00.
If you lose or damage material, you will be charged the cost of replacing the item and the processing costs if applicable. Normally, we won’t charge you for the item until it’s been about a month past its due date. However, if the item is a computer or Beyond Books item worth $100 or more, please be aware that we will bill you the day after the due date if the item is not returned. Returning the item at any time will waive this charge.
