Why is there a charge?
Due to cuts in the library’s materials budget, we can no longer afford to buy as many copies of best selling fiction as we used to. The rental collection is a way to make additional copies of popular titles available while they are still in demand, and to add more copies of popular DVDs than we have been able to afford in the past.
A fund raiser of the Racine Public Library Foundation, the rental collection will also supplement the library’s materials budget.
What if I can’t afford these charges?
The library’s regular fiction and DVD collections will always include free copies of the titles that are in the rental collection. You still have the option of placing a hold on one of the free copies from our regular collections.
What is the cost?
The cost for both DVDs and fiction books is $2. The charge for items returned late is $.25 per item per day. |
|
When do I pay?
The rental fee is paid at the time you check out the material. Any late charges are assessed when the material is returned.
What is the rental period?
You may rent the DVDs for 7 days and the fiction books for 14 days.
May I renew rental materials?
Since we are trying to meet demand with these materials, they may not be renewed. $.25 per item, per day will be charged for items returned after the due date.
Will you hold rental items for me?
Because this is a browsing collection, computer holds may not be placed on these materials and they may not be put aside for you.
Where is this collection?
There is a rental collection in the Adult Services Department of the Main Library and on the Mobile Library. |
